Artist Statement

I am immersed in a study of the beauty and movement of the natural world. I believe that our planet has things she wants to teach me. I aim to gain greater artistic skill and knowledge about our Earth with each work. I am interested in what the work will reveal through sustained practice. I believe that I have responsibilities in my relationship with our Earth.

My work is created by layering digital drawing and digital painting over dynamic watercolor wash backgrounds. My art reflects continuing Haudenosaunee everyday lifeways, northern forest animals, and Haudenosaunee historical designs.
Love the Earth.

Description of the Work

My work is a compilation of portraits, forest animals, Woodlands Native patterning, and watercolor mark-making. It holds a dynamic tension of realism and abstract art concepts.

The artwork encourages each of us to look closer, relishing our natural world, and refreshing our inner peace just like an actual walk in the woods.

Kayeri and her longtime partner, Mike McCanna operate the online fine art giclee print business together.
